Valhalla 10

Hey everyone,

Tammy and I are going to update our blog for the gym in the next couple of days. We'll be covering the fights from Valhalla 10 from Saturday. Mark Farrington lost his heavyweight bout by a guillotine choke and Adrian Yarboro won his MMA welterweight bout by TKO in only 2:05 in the first round.

MMAI did well over all. I'll post the total fight results later on tonight, so be on the lookout!

Take care everyone,

Kimmy

2 days until Valhalla

Ok, I have a bit of time to update this really quick.  Valhalla 10: Collision takes place this Saturday in Sterling, VA at the Dulles expo center.  Tickets are $15 dollars online and Tammy and I are going to go up and cover the fights, which detailed pictures and fight commentary.  We'll update the facebook, myspace, twitter, and blogger feeds within a few days.  I'm looking forward to them.  Adrian Yarboro is a 170 welterweight fighter and Mark Farrington is a heavy weight.

Both guys were training at our gym on Tuesday.  They looked AWESOME.  Both have been working really hard and I know they had to cut weight for weigh ins on Friday.  Dave Morris, the gym owner, will be joining them up in Sterling on Friday (tomorrow).

Nutrition

I've been doing quite a bit of vitamin research recently, being personally low in iron but not anemic, my friend and gym instructor, Angie Hines, told me to take a B vitamin.  I can honestly say that there is a huge improvement in my morning energy levels.  The B vitamins synthesize in the bloodstream within a couple hours and the blood uses that and the iron along with a healthy breakfast to produce energy and speed up the metabolism.

I am not a doctor, but just by doing a bit of reading with reputable websites, one can find invaluable information.  Don't trust sites that look strange, but rather case studies from university sides that end in .edu or sites that end in .org are pretty reputable.

Any questions, ask here or shoot us an email.  We'll be back on soon :)

The Beginning of Something awesome!

Hey! Well, introductions are needed, so I'm Kim, but people call me Kimmy or KC. I'll pretty much answer to anything. My good friend Tammy will also be contributing to this blog as we document the fun and fabulous life of those involved with a great new MMA gym in the heart of central Virginia. It's called McCoy Martial Arts--Charlottesville.

Dave Morris, the owner and head instructor, has over 10 years of professional MMA fighting experience and now is a wonderful coach and instructor. The gym offers Muay Thai, boxing, BJJ (with and without Gi), wrestling, MMA, women's Muay Thai and core classes, and kid's classes. You can view the entire schedule at www.charlottesvillemma.com. We also have an email set up at charlottesville.mma@gmail.com if you need any information about our new gym. You can also email Dave directly at dave@mmainstitute.com.

I'm 25, live in Virginia, and started kickboxing in college to keep up with the endurance on the Virginia Polo team. I LOVED it, but didn't get into MMA until I saw UFC 45 at a local bar. This was the fight where Matt Hughes choked out Frank Trigg. My fondness for MMA was helped along with regular viewings of PPV, but I never thought I'd be able to kickbox again. Then I heard about MMAI, and had to go. I've been training now for 9 months, and LOVE it! I also love to read, ride horses, cook, and hang out with my friends and my boxer, Monty Python, in my spare time.

Anyway, enough about me, sometimes you know, people can get really excited about stuff! Another focus of this blog will be about nutrition.

Look for some updates pretty soon. Tammy and I are going to cover Valhalla 10 this weekend in Sterling, VA, near DC. Our very own guys, Adrian and Mark are fighting. We'll post pictures and give you guys a play by play!! So get excited :D
